Description: Step into the whimsical world of Far Far Away in our Shrek Jr. Costume Design Camp! Young designers will explore how bold colors, textures, and imaginative details help bring fairy-tale characters to life on stage. Students will learn the fundamentals of costume design through hands-on projects inspired by the show’s larger-than-life characters, from ogres and donkeys to royalty and storybook creatures. Campers will practice character analysis, sketching, fabric selection, and basic construction techniques while creating costume elements and accessories unique to the production.
This camp is perfect for creative students who love art, fashion, theater, or behind-the-scenes storytelling. No sewing experience is required—just curiosity and creativity!
Campers will explore:
- Character-driven costume design
- Color, texture, and silhouette in storytelling
- Sketching and design planning
- Fabric and material selection
- Introductory sewing and construction skills
Performance 1: Friday, July 17th @ 7 pm (Camp ends at 3pm on the day of the first performance)
Performance 2: Saturday, July 18th @ 2 pm
- Costume Design students will work closely with Molly and her special guest to design and sew costumes for Shrek The Musical Jr. Theatre Camp!
- Costume design students need to bring a water bottle, lunch, and comfortable clothes to sew in.
- Please send your camper in clothing that can get stained, as we will be working with fabric dye.
- All sewing supplies, and a camp t-shirt will be provided for each camper!
- Students interested in fashion design, sewing, dying, cutting, and creating will LOVE this camp!
- Costume design students are encouraged to come see the show and all their hard work brought to life!
- Costume design students are welcome to come see their hard work brought to life at any of our three performances! August 16 @ 6 pm, 17th @ 2 and 6 pm.
