With charm, wit and heart, You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown explores life through the eyes of Charlie Brown and his friends in the Peanuts gang. This revue of songs and vignettes, based on the beloved Charles Schulz comic strip, offers a full production experience for folks ready to hone this performance art. Musical numbers include “My Blanket and Me,” “The Kite,” “The Baseball Game,” “Little Known Facts,” “Suppertime” and “Happiness.” Guaranteed to please audiences of all ages!

Our You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown Performance Camp offers a true musical theatre intensive for students ready to take on significant onstage responsibility. There are three swing cast opportunities, but otherwise a minimal ensemble. With a small cast and substantial principal roles, each performer will have meaningful stage time and opportunities to develop character, vocal performance, and storytelling skills. High school actors are expected to arrive on the first day of camp off book, with all lines and lyrics fully memorized. This preparation ensures we can begin rehearsals immediately and make the most of our time together.

Our You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown Production Camp supports this intimate, character-driven show through thoughtful and intentional design work. Campers will work closely with our Student and mentor Technical Directors, as well as the show’s Director on props, sets, and scenic elements that reflect the show’s clean, colorful, cartoon-inspired aesthetic. Students will also have the opportunity to learn lights and sound to truly bring this story to life! With the scale of the production allowing for close collaboration, students will gain hands-on experience and a deeper understanding of how technical and visual elements support a musical theatre intensive environment.

Our You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown Stage Management Camp is ideal for organized, detail-oriented students and independent students who are ready to work within a fast-paced, focused rehearsal process. Campers will learn how to document blocking, track cues, manage props, and communicate effectively with directors, performers, and production teams. This role is essential in a small-cast musical, offering students significant responsibility and real-world experience in supporting an intensive theatrical production. The skills obtained through participation in this camp are transferable to nearly every part of a student’s life!

Celebrate the charm and simplicity of the Peanuts gang in our You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown Costume Design Camp. This camp focuses on clean lines, color symbolism, and character consistency to reflect the show’s classic, Peanuts comic strip-inspired style. Students will study how costumes support character personality and storytelling through thoughtful design choices. Young designers will develop design concepts, create sketches, and build costume pieces or accessories that capture the heart and humor of this beloved musical. Emphasis will be placed on collaboration, creativity, and attention to detail.

Molly founded Stowe Children’s Theatre in 2015 to bring the youth in Stowe proper together to build the worlds of each show they take on. Molly is passionate about providing young actors and designers with a safe place to practice and perform this performance art, and build community. Molly is currently in graduate school working towards a Vermont State teaching license in Theatre Arts. She is THRILLED to be joined by a phenomenal creative team of talented teaching artists for not one but TWO show titles this summer!

Clark Gesner
Author
Clark Gesner (1938-2002) was an American composer, songwriter, author, and actor. In addition to You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown, Mr. Gesner wrote the book, music and lyrics for Animal Fair, which premiered at the Denver Center Theatre, and with Nagle Jackson, Broadway’s The Utter Glory of Morrissey Hall. For television, he wrote for Captain Kangaroo, Sesame Street and That Was The Week That Was, and on stage for the revues of Leonard Sillman and Julius Monk. He appeared regularly in B. T. McNicholl’s Musicals in Concert series and performed regionally in 1776, Lend Me a Tenor, Carnival! and other musicals, as well as eight years of productions at the Weston (Vermont) Playhouse. The Jello Is Always Red, a revue of Mr. Gesner’s cabaret and theatre songs, was produced by the York Theatre Company.

Stefanie Weigand

Stefanie Weigand (she/her) is on the voice faculty at UVM where she also serves as Voice Area Coordinator and collaborative pianist in the music and theatre departments. She enjoys working as a presenter, clinician, and guest conductor across the region, working with hundreds of students across Vermont each year. Stefanie is passionate about music education, working to support teachers in the nonprofit sector through Music-COMP and the VT Music Educator’s Association. While teaching grade 7-12 music at Harwood Union MS/HS, she was the 2014 recipient of the VMEA’s Outstanding New Music Educator Award and received a Masters of Music Education from Castleton University.
After completing her BFA in Musical Theatre from Ithaca College, Stefanie toured nationally with a Children’s Theatre Company and worked on stage and off as a performer, pit musician, and music director in New York. Since moving to Vermont, she has appeared as a vocalist, pianist, and music director for various organizations including TURNmusic, the Vermont Philharmonic, the VSO, Lyric Theatre, Apex Ensemble, the Green Mountain Mahler Festival, The Champlain Philharmonic, Burlington Civic Symphony Orchestra, Opera Vermont, and more. Stefanie’s work as a studio vocalist can also be heard on a number of albums released through Lane Gibson studios, Lovetown Recording, and Tank Recording Studio, including the 2022 release of The Saturn People’s Sound Collective self-titled album.

Charles M. Schulz
Author
Charles M. Schulz was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on November 26, 1922. His Peanuts comic strip debuted in 1950 in just seven newspapers and launched a cultural legacy. When Schulz announced his retirement in December 1999, Peanuts was syndicated in over 2,600 newspapers worldwide, with book collections translated in over 25 languages. The recipient of two Reuben Awards from the National Cartoonists Society and inductee into the Cartoonist Hall of Fame, Schulz also scripted and storyboarded numerous television specials, earning five Emmy and two Peabody Awards. He was awarded many different honors, including the Ordre des Artes et des Lettres from the French Ministry of Culture; the Lester Patrick Award (the only recipient who was not a professional hockey player); a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, and a Carnegie Hall-commissioned concerto by Ellen Zwilich entitled “Peanuts Gallery.” Charles M. Schulz died on February 13, 2000, but his Peanuts gang continues to entertain and inspire the young and the young at heart.
